Sunday 19th March 2017 NSDTR Club of UK Championship Show (CC) - Mrs Jenny Miller (Feorlig)

2nd Veteran Dog

Another character who really liked the show ring and showed he could move out with a powerful stride, who single tracked at the rear speed, was sound with reach at front. Lovely clean cut wedge shaped head, alert eyes rather round, well set dropped ears. Muscular neck of medium length into well laid and angled shoulders. Firm short back broad croup well set nicely feathered tail carried high. Deep well coated boy for his 11 years but not as conditioned or textured as my winner. Very well boned legs and arched webbed feet well padded. Muscular quarters hock well let down.

Saturday 11th March 2017 Crufts (CC) - Mr Jeff Luscott (Jalus)

Slightly bigger lad but sound, with good overall balance, pleases in head, he works easily on muscled quarters with good action on the move, carries his tail to attract, goes well with his handler enjoying his day out.

Sunday 10th July 2016 East of England - Mr Anthony Allen (Allenie)

2nd Veteran Dog

Slightly older than The Entertainer & clearly out of the same top drawer but today not quite in the coat of the winner. Pleasing masculine head with excellent definition, excellent in neck which was strong leading on to well set shoulders & overall front assembly. Good through the body, chest deep & ribs well sprung. Strong in loin with the correct level topline, as with the winner excellent quarters. Smart on the move with that typical Toller action especially in profile where he had rear drive. Called him back in to challenge the Open winner for RBD & another close decision. Smart dog & grateful to have the opportunity to judge him.

2nd Open Dog

An old favourite of mine still able to take on the best at 9 years of age & the soundest & most positive mover in the class, more spring of ribcage than the winner & preferred his topline & overall body condition. A most worthy champion & a credit to the breed, so very typical standing & moving & wonderful to have the opportunity to assess him again, showing his age slightly in the head, where the winner scored, but still a most lovely dog.

Balanced outline on this 8 year old dog. Liked his head. Correct length of neck. Well made front. Tight feet. Well ribbed back. Enough hind angulation. True out & back, could have a slightly longer stride. Just starting to throw his coat.

Stood out for his correct body proportions and good breed type, excellent coat and colour, although the rough of wavy hair over his shoulders is acceptable. This dog looked stunning in profile movement, with good reach and drive, he put in a steady powerful performance on every movement phase. Has text book rear action when going away. I thought he had a lovely balanced head and typical expression from well placed eyes of the correct shape and colour. Medium length to neck, level topline and excellent angle to croup giving a good tailset. Moderate length of back, strong loin and excellent hindquarters, rear pasterns well let down. CC and BOB.

Brother to the winner of post graduate with the same outstanding qualities of breed type, striking outline and, in his case, presence in the ring. Another Toller so very well made and constructed that he has perfect balance when standing and the natural ability of a showman. His expression is mellow and yet focused on the work in hand, handsome head, beautifully balanced and strong without any exaggeration, ears correct in every way, neck strong and sweeping into well laid shoulders, deep set and elbows tight supported on strong bone and well arched toes on good pads. Deep bodied with well sprung ribs and firm level topline, with scope and length in the body, helps to add to a picture of a thoroughly well proportioned Toller. On the day I felt he lacked the body condition and muscle tone I have assessed on him in the past as he rises towards six years of age. His well bent stifles remain a feature and hocks turn neither in nor out and I still consider his movement to be exceptionally good and an example of how the breed should track.

I consider his movement to be exceptionally good and an example of how the breed should track. A bushy well coated tail, carried correctly up completes the picture, polished off with a rich, full coat of correct texture and pleasing colour with undercoat present, lying flat and close, coat being the deciding factor over his brother on the day in declaring him Best Dog.
