What a great super dog to find in my first class of the day, now rising eleven years old. He has a super outline on the stack, masculine in head with typical shape. Super eye which gave him that classic expression, correctly set ear and shape. Strong well muscled neck, leading in to well set shoulders with the correct front angulation. Super in the body with good depth to chest and ribs well sprung, strong through the loin. Well developed hindquarters, stifles well bent, hocks well let down. Super tail carriage. Excellent double coat and excellent condition. On the move he had a superb action and footfall, so typical jaunty with good rear drive. In the challenge he just stepped up a gear and just out moved the open winner so took top spot. Delighted to make him my Best Dog and later Best in Show. A credit to his owners and a fabulous ambassador for the breed, thank you for bringing him today.

A grand 10 years 4 months old dog, truly masculine presence of great quality & excellent breed balance. Solid substance for a veteran with outstanding strength of bone & tight feet, superbly full, thick pads undoubtedly the best bone & feet in the entry. Beautifully balanced, wedged shaped head with lovely clear, dark eye & expression not showing his age, super length to his muzzle. Well sprung ribcage, well ribbed back but short in the couplings, in super body condition for his age, muscled across the loins & the very best of deep second thighs. Age showing slightly in rear movement but still retains immense power & drive with delightful, thick, well flagged tail carriage. Most sound & positive still in front an example to all the younger stock present of how movement should be conducted in this breed. The fact that he was short listed to the last eight in a very strong gundog group at nearly eleven years of age is true testimony to his enduring quality. My BD, BV & BOB without any hesitation today.

I have always admired this medium sized boy now in his 10.5 years and still as powerful as he was as a youngster. Masculine super clean cut wedge shaped head, almond shaped dark eyes, clean throat well feathered, medium muscular neck flowing into shoulders and short strong level backline to a correctly set on feathered tail nicely carried. Deep chest and body well sprung back covered in a gloriously rich red coat of a nice double texture. Straight strongly boned legs with round and arched webbed feet with good pasterns, strong muscular return of stifle, strong hocks. One of the best sound powerful movers of the day, single tracks slightly as he drives, sound forward action RCC

A really super dog here, so full of breed type, a true Toller with substance, oozing quality & style. He has a classic head of correct proportions, excellent drop ears high set on the skull, with a kind & alert expression. He is good for depth, front, top-line & side gait, & he was seriously considered for the top honour but today I felt in the final challenge that he was just showing his age a touch in rear action & had to give way to the younger Open dog, but totally deserving of the RCC.

An excellent dog so full of breed type. Is such a good ambassador for the breed. To me, he has a classic head that was well nigh impossible to find elsewhere in this entry. Rather than plaudits, I'll repeat the head standard here as a reminder of what is required: "Head And Skull. Clean-cut skull, slightly wedge shaped. Broad, slightly rounded. Occiput not prominent. Cheeks flat. Moderate stop. Muzzle tapers from stop to nose. Nostrils well developed. Nose flesh-coloured or black. Eyes. Medium size, almond-shaped, well set apart. Friendly, alert expression. Brown to amber, blending with coat colour. Eye rims flesh coloured or black. Ears Triangular, dropped ear of medium size. Set high and well back on skull. Base held very slightly erect. Well feathered at back of fold, hair shorter at rounded tips. Mouth: Jaws strong with a perfect, regular and complete scissor bite, i.e. upper teeth closely overlapping lower teeth and set square to the jaws. Teeth sound and strong. Softness of mouth essential. Lips tight fitting, flesh-coloured or black". He was in full coat - a thick undercoat covered with luxurious top coat on body and well feathered tail. In the challenge he lacked the easy, jaunty movement of the CC winner, but I was pleased to reward his assets with the RCC.
