Thank you to the committee of Southern Counties Canine Association, for inviting me to judge Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retrievers at your Championship show. I had a lovely day with an excellent entry of high quality dogs. Thank you also to my very able stewards.

Puppy Dog (4 entries, 1 absent)

1^st	Hunt RIVER WISE OF GREAT PLEASURE AT WAKADUZE (IMP BEL) Good size puppy with a pleasing head and expression, nice teeth with correct bite. Ears of correct size and set. Excellent spring of rib for his age, level top line and good bone, moved soundly.
2^nd	Kettle-White, Clifton & Stevens WAKADUZE WAZISINOTA Slighter build than 1 and less mature at present. Has promise and will do better when more settled.

1^st	Copeland CAMUSMOR BRINGMESUNSHINE TO MENSTONIA Typical head, well-proportioned with kind eye and expression. Good angulation and lay of shoulder, deep chest and good spring of rib, nice amount of bone and level top line sporting a good coat today. He moved out with confidence and spirit. RBD
2^nd	La Turner LAUVSTUAS THEO TOYBEE RIVER AT MATALATU (IMP NOR) Good type, handsome, mature boy. Breed typical head with good ears and eye shape. In good coat. Moved well especially in profile with level topline and high tail carriage.

1^st	Fuard TOLLELKIN BAY OF ICE Love this dog’s attitude. Masculine head, beautiful expression and correct eye. Well balanced dog throughout, built on a solid strong structure. Moved out powerfully with good reach and drive. Level topline and happy tail carriage. This dog could easily work a full day in the field.
2^nd	Chapman KATIMBA TREBBIANO AT DKAI Another strong and confident dog, slightly darker in coat than 1. Excellent condition throughout with a nice head, eye and expression. Good spring of rib and depth of chest. Not as mature as 1, but shows promise. Moved out with enthusiasm.

Lovely head and expression, ears set well and of good size. Good angulation front and rear, a good spring of rib and muscle tone, another dog fit for purpose. He moved out well, with confidence, showing good reach and drive. This well balanced dog took command of the ring today. I have seen him mature and develop the substance he now carries. Stood out as my Best of Breed, in gleaming coat and personality. BD, BOB and pleased to see him take Group 2.

A strong well-set neck, deep chest, good spring of rib, showing overall substance and maturity. He moved out and back with style and a happy tail.
2^nd	Titovets & Eremin MULTI CH DELONGSTAR DIAMOND DREAM RL6-EX Slighter in build overall than my ideal, but body shows good spring of rib, deep chest and is well muscled. Moved with strength and flow.

2^nd	Burgess MELANITTA SINAMAY Feminine head with good eye and expression, and strong neck of good length. A little less angulation than 1 and going through that leggy stage, making her look quite tall. She is going to take some time to mature.

Post Graduate Bitch (13 entries, 1 absent)

1^st	Davies CATCH FIRST YLVA GARONERA (IMP CZE) Nice type. Pleasing young bitch, with a typical shaped head, correct eye and kind expression. Well angulated forequarters and a level top-line, held on the move. Correct amount of bone for size. Good spring of rib and deep chest, moved neatly with high tail carriage. RBB
2^nd	Pashley WAKADUZE WAH PEN DAH SKA Pretty, well-presented bitch with good eye and expression. Well set on neck of good length. A little long in the loin, and has a tendency to drop her topline when standing. Her jaunty attitude on the move was eye catching.

1^st	Foster-Brown STELLENBOSCH SAUSAULITO (AI) This mature bitch shone out today, a feminine head, eye and expression. Well set on neck and good bone. Well bodied, with correct angulation, front and rear. She commanded the ring today, moving out with confidence and a happy tail. BB
2^nd	Yates MELANITTA MILK AND HONEY AVEC TOLLEROLOGY RL2 She has a pretty feminine head with a well-shaped eye and kind expression. Good length and set on of neck. In good coat and condition. Tends to stand loose in front. She did not move out quite as well as 1 today.

Open Bitch (2 entries)

1^st	Adshead DANEHAVEN VERMILION FOR AFONBACH SHCM She is pretty with a feminine shaped head, kind eye and expression. Good angulation front and rear and decent spring of rib. Overall, a well-constructed bitch not in her best coat today.
2^nd	Johnson SEAHAVEN'S GLORIANA BY TARNLAIKERS Breed typical head, eye and expression. Strong neck of good length. Deep chest and good spring of rib with a level topline. Nice overall shape with bone and substance. Would like slightly more turn of stifle, well-muscled and moved soundly.

Special Beginner Bitch (5 entries)

2^nd	Rolf RIPPLERUSH FLOREFFE Another pretty bitch of good type. Not as mature as 1 and smaller all through. Nicely balanced throughout with good angulation. Good spring of rib, ample coat and moved well.

One of the strongest Groups this time, certainly the strongest Gundog Group out of the three occasions when I've judged them in the UK. I was spoilt for choice. A very nice problem to have! Great to have such a great representative of the breed here where it is rather new one and still in the procedure to get fully understood. Perfect balance, not too short on his legs but also not squarely built. Strong but more dry quarters than the other retriever breeds. Lovely head, correct neck and shoulders. Head and tail carriage is higher than of the other retriever breeds connected to the special way of their working. Light footed but not high-stepping correct movement. Beautiful rich colour of his coat with excellent white markings present.
