2nd Open Dog

his 5yr was very sympathetic to his novice handler, making it easy for him and almost showing himself. Another of good type, presenting a typey outline. Liked his head, masculine with dark eye. Medium neck flows into super forequarters with well laid shoulders, good return of upper arm and excellent forechest. Well boned, straight front although feet could be better. Deep well-sprung ribs under a level topline, through a deep muscular loin to a well angled rear. On the move he was a little distracted by the food to start but a little correction and he concentrated to show true movement with reach and drive. Lovely tail carriage.

Another mature male, who was handled to advantage. Although he is of a different type and expression to 1 many of the same qualities apply. Masculine head, strong neck into short back with level topline. Stood on straight, strong forelegs, elbows close to body, deep chested with well spung ribs. Well bent stifles. Moved well, I just preferred the rear drive and feet of 1.

The surprise of the day for me. I have judged this boy before and he has matured very well since then. Shown in excellent condition, he has correct angulation fore and aft, which made him a strong mover on the day, correct head shape and ear carriage, with dark amber eyes blending with his coat, like his brother, 2nd in LD, he is well ribbed and of good proportions. Handled extremely well in the ring to get the most out of him and overall he has matured into a very sound dog. (RBD)

Masculine head and expression, slightly longer in foreface than Conaire. Strong neck and well placed shoulders, straight in front and good legs. Body well developed with a level and firm topline. Good bend of stifle, developed second thigh and correct finish to the croup. Another In lovely hard condition. His profile movement is stylish, handler tended to move him too fast which meant he wasn't as accurate coming towards me as Conaire.

Ten and half months old sired by BOB winner I now see passing on his substance clearly, an excellent breed type lovely outline to this youngster supported on the best of strong bone and well padded feet, very good topline for his age and particularly strong across the loins. Good depth of brisket with well sprung ribcage and slight tuck up coat lying close and well textured. White feet nicely flagged tipped tail, the bitch puppy winner, his litter sister, had for me had too much foreleg white on show which decided best puppy, a very sound mover fore and aft with tail well flagged driving from well muscled hindquarters, BP.

First and second were two very good quality youngsters making it one of the closest decisions of the day. Medium sized and compact. Lovely balance and type. Two litter brothers of 7 months, very similar as one would expect in type, heads just right for age, good balanced outline, pleasingly constructed through the body, with excellent ribs, loin and toplines, good bone and feet moving out soundly. I was a little concerned maybe incorrectly with the amount of white going up the legs – the reason for my placings.
