1st Open Dog Or Bitch

Fell for this 3 year old darker red dog, he holds a cracking outline on the stack. Liked his overall size, substance and masculinity. Nothing overdone and all in proportion. Giving the impression of power and agility, in a compact and functional workmanlike package. He has a handsome and clean cut head, attentive in his expression. Flowing cleanly from nose to tail. His firm topline is held both stood and on the move, with the ever wagging well feathered tail. Deep in the body with well sprung ribs and short coupled. Strength and width to his hindquarters, which were put to good use on the move. So positive and true both fore and aft with good width behind. Shown in tip top condition and coat – BOB, shortlisted in group.

I was captivated by this stunning boy the minute he walked into the ring. Beautiful head with a great expression. There was nothing exaggerated about him. Excellent front and rear angulation, well placed shoulders and good spring of rib. Straight front with well laid back shoulders. Good substance and bone. Very well muscled leading to powerful, jaunty movement, carrying his well set tail high. The best mover of the day.I loved his rich red coat. It was a privilege to award him Best of Breed. BoB

2nd Open Dog Or Bitch

A much younger dog who will improve with maturity, deep red in colour, a clean wedged shaped head with good eye shape though slightly lighter than coat, good size and well-set ears, good muscle through his neck and shoulders would like him to develop more substance with maturity, has good proportionate bone, nicely presented, tight feet. Moved with confidence full of energy and positive attitude typical of the breed. RBOB.

2yr old Dog. Striking young male, rich dark red coat with nice markings and in lovely condition. Good wedge shaped head leading to a strong neck. Excellent Topline and tail set. Good front and feet, super rear angulation. Good bone. Another one shown in excellent working condition. Moved well with good jaunty attitude. Just lost out on maturity to 1 but still a super dog who I’m sure will do well.

Another fine ambassador for this breed different in appearance to 1 but still has that unmistakable quality,in outline a finer dog,in coat a deeper colour, well balanced throughout pleasing head with correct length of jaw and complete scissor bite. .good spring of rib, strong in the loin, good bend of stifle, shown in hard condition didn't move quite as well as 1 for me.

Group 4 (Judge: Miss Becky Johnson (Downstream))

Excellent overall balance with good length of leg. Scores in forehand construction and well muscled hindquarters. Totally workmanlike and free from exaggeration. Super sound movement - he would have gone around that ring all day with ease.

1st Yearling Dog Or Bitch

What a truly stunning young male, this dog is. I have judged him before but now at nearly 2 years of age how he has come on in 7 months. Extremely well balanced in overall outline and appearance, of medium size yet powerful with super muscletone all through. Excellent wedge-shaped head with moderate stop and flat cheeks, medium sized eye, which could be a fraction darker being very critical, correct, clean and complete dentition, strong neck into well placed shoulders and corresponding return of upper arm, deep chest and short back, well bent stifles, tight round feet, super quality bone all through. Excellent on the move and whenever asked both fore and after and shows super side gait – I believe that this dog will be a future big winner in this breed. BOB & Group 4.

1st Open Dog Or Bitch

One I have judged before, nice to see how he has come on. Finer male than my PG winner yet still correct. Wedge shaped head with strong jaw, playful expression, ears set well back and held correctly. Balanced outline, stands himself square which is sometimes spoilt by the handler repositioning his legs. Springy movement with good reach and drive. Full dark red coat with heavily feathered tail used to advantage on the move. BOB.

2nd Open Dog Or Bitch

Quality dog, younger and more immature in development than the winner at this time. Pleasing head shape and eye colour, excellent angulation and presenting a balanced outline in profile. Shown in hard muscletone and well bodied, he moved freely fore and aft and in profile. In good coat, well presented and an attentive show man. RBOB

Sunday 27th August 2017 Horley & District Show Society - Miss Jenny Attwater (Petitroux)

1st Junior Dog Or Bitch

Such a neat package in this 15 month old chap. An appealing, ‘what’s next?’ expression, well proportioned head, especially in profile. Slightly smaller in size, moderate in bone, with beautifully balanced angulation presented in a rich red coat. At first glance he looks a shade long in loin but boy does his movement tell a different story, not putting a foot wrong he travelled the ring in a manner I personally don’t see very often - springy, effortless and not overdone. Great profile movement: one of the best of the day.

Best Puppy

1st Junior Dog Or Bitch

11 month old, a rich red with attractive white markings, preferred his more masculine head and substance to 2, good width of skull, ears set high and of medium size and triangular in shape, moderate stop and foreface, eye colour a little light but of good shape and set wide apart, correct dentition, strong neck leading into laid back shoulders and sufficient length of upper arm, good depth of chest but he’s a touch long in the back, good rear assembly with straight legs from behind, good tail set and correct carriage of a fully furnished tail which was always moving, moves freely in all directions with his front to tighten up as he matures but has plenty of reach and drive. Was pleased to watch him go RBPIS under another judge at his last show as a puppy.

Puppy Group 3

Eyecatching NSDTR, wedge shaped head with kind eye, another good in body and shown in hard condition for one so young, lovely rich deep colour and moved jaunitly with a spring in his step. See he is an import so should be an asset to breeding programmes here.
